3D Model of the Centre of Geographic Sciences (COGS)
Dustin Baillie while as a student at the Centre of Geographic Sciences (COGS) created a 3D model of the campus using a combination of oblique aerial and terrestrial photographs. While the aerial photograph had been acquired during a previous project, Dustin gathered over 60 photographs around the building from various angles.
Key photographs were then selected an georeferenced within ObliqueMapper. Major features such as walkways, driveways and trees were digitized as GIS layers from the aerial photographs. The main COGS building was then carefully digitized in greater detail using the terrestrial photographs.
The final 3D model was then exported from ObliqueMapper and converted into a KML (using a 3rd-party tool) for display within GoogleEarth.
