Modelling a Lighthouse using At-Camera Control
Jillian Barteaux while as a student at the Centre of Geographic Sciences (COGS) created a 3D model of a local lighthouse from a series of terrestrial photographs.
Twelve photographs were taken circling the lighthouse while a hand-held GPS (WAAS enabled) was used to obtain the camera position for each photograph.
These coordinates were then used within ObliqueMapper to align & georeference the photographs using its "at-camera" control capability.
Once georeferenced, the photographs were used to digitize polygons and lines to create a 3D model of the lighthouse.
The final 3D model was then exported from ObliqueMapper into a GIS compatible format for use within a 3D GIS software package.
